The European Banking Institute (EBI) is an international Frankfurt-based centre for banking studies, a joint venture of Europe’s preeminent academic institutions, sharing and coordinating their commitments and structuring their research activities to provide the highest quality of legal, economic and accounting studies in banking regulation, banking supervision and banking resolution in Europe.

Our Research

The EBI contributes to and evaluates the quality of bank regulation, supervision and enforcement in the EU, while advocating for financial stability, market efficiency and the equitable treatment of stakeholders.

EBI Policy Center

The EBI Policy Center promotes discussions between stakeholders on current developments in the European banking and financial system.

EU Banking Database

The EU Banking Cases Collection enhances the transparency of the cases pending before, or decided by, the Union Courts in the area of the EU Banking Union, offering a helpful tool to academics and practitioners.

Courses

EBI Masters and courses are aimed, in the spirit of the Meseberg declaration, to the development of multi-jurisdictional teaching activities of the law of the Banking Union in the Eurozone.

EBI has been selected as academic partner by the European Banking Authority (EBA), the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), together: ESAs
